Mastercard Identity Theft Protection works by monitoring the information you choose to register. Here are answers to some common questions about enrollment and monitoring.
Why does enrollment ask for personal information?
The service can only monitor information that has been registered. Information such as email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial accounts, and other identifiers help the system look for signs that your information may have been exposed or used in unexpected ways.
Do I have to provide everything during enrollment?
No. You decide which information you want the service to monitor. Adding more information may expand monitoring coverage, but you can choose which items you are comfortable registering.
When does monitoring begin?
Monitoring begins after enrollment and activation are completed. As you add information to your profile, the service can begin monitoring the information you have registered.
What happens if suspicious activity is detected?
You'll receive alerts when potential issues are identified, helping you take action quickly. If identity theft occurs, identity resolution services are also available through the program.
Is there a cost to enroll?
No. Mastercard Identity Theft Protection is included for eligible Mastercard consumer credit cardholders and is available at no additional cost.
