Therefore, it is important for our members to be aware of the ways in which fraudsters operate and the measures they can take to prevent and mitigate fraud.

Six Strategies for Fraud Prevention in Your Business

Credit union members who own small businesses should also be aware of the risk of fraud and take steps to prevent it. Pathways recommends the following six strategies for fraud prevention in business:

Conduct background checks: Before hiring employees or working with vendors, conduct background checks to verify their identities and ensure that they have a good track record.

Implement internal controls: Set up internal controls, such as dual authorization for transactions and segregation of duties, to prevent any one employee from having too much control over financial processes.
